Important Notice: Get ready for Individual Number Card linked with your Health Insurance Qualification (Myna Insurance Card)
English follows Japanese.
To all insured persons and dependents,
The plastic health insurance card currently in your possession, as well as the paper-based eligibility certificate issued by PwC Health Insurance Society, will expire on December 1, 2025. Please prepare your Individual Number Card linked with your Health Insurance Qualification (Myna Insurance Card) as soon as possible.
l For instructions on how to create your Myna Insurance Card, please refer the pdf file.
l For an overview of upcoming changes to medical visits, please see here.
l If you are currently residing overseas or planning to relocate abroad for an overseas assignment, please refer to: Overseas Info.
Once your Myna Insurance Card has been created, you can confirm that your My Number is correctly linked to your health insurance eligibility.
Please log in to your personal Myna Portal, navigate to “My Information” → “Health & Medical” → “Health Insurance Card Information” → “Retrieve Latest Information”, and check the registered insurance details.
Please note that procedures at medical institutions may vary. There have been reported cases where individuals presenting a plastic health insurance card were asked to pay 100% of medical costs. Reference: Japan Medical Association website, announcement dated September 19, 2023.
Although reimbursement is possible after paying the full amount, the process requires you to collect and mail all necessary documents yourself (including document fees and postage, which are at your own expense). The Health Insurance Society will also need to conduct internal procedures, including document review by external specialists and in-house examination.
This places a significant burden of time and cost on both you and the Health Insurance Society.
To avoid full payment and the need for reimbursement procedures, we kindly ask for your cooperation in using the Myna Insurance Card when receiving medical care.
